About Earn Mwachangu
Earn Mwachangu was born from a fundamental belief: hard-working employees deserve dignity and control over their earnings.
We witnessed far too often the struggle of making it to the end of the month, where employees were caught in the brutal cycle of high-interest "katapila" lenders, losing property and sinking into silent debt just for needing timely access to their money. Formal banks offered no practical alternative, with long paperwork and delayed approvals failing people in urgent need.
Our solution was simple: What if people didn’t need to borrow at all?
We built a platform that gives employees secure, instant access to a portion of their earned wages — interest-free. It is not a loan; it is their money, made available when they need it most. Our core mission is to make income as flexible as life itself.
We exist to end financial anxiety, support employers in building focused and resilient teams, and ultimately, to restore dignity by putting financial control back into the hands of those who've already earned it.
The Role: The Deal Closer & Growth Driver
We're looking for an entrepreneurial Business Development Manager (BDM) who is hungry to drive growth, secure large-scale partnerships, and take Earn Mwachangu to the next level.
You will be the engine of our B2B growth, responsible for identifying, pursuing, and closing deals with key employers (from large corporates to government institutions) and strategic ecosystem partners (e.g., banks, MNOs, retailers). This role grants you significant autonomy to design your strategy and execute deals your way.
Key Responsibilities: Hunt, Close, and Scale
Partnership Acquisition & Negotiation (The Hunt)
· Identify and secure high-value B2B partnerships with Malawian employers and key ecosystem players to drive adoption of our salary advance and financial wellness solutions.
· Lead high-stakes negotiations from pitch to contract signing, structuring win-win commercial agreements and revenue models.
· Serve as the Brand Ambassador for Earn Mwachangu in the fintech, financial inclusion, and corporate wellness ecosystems.
Growth Strategy & Execution (The Autonomy)
· Take ownership of the BDM function, developing and executing aggressive go-to-market strategies to increase user acquisition, retention, and product adoption across all Malawian regions.
· Work directly with the leadership team to explore and implement innovative business models and revenue streams.
· Support initial planning and relationship building for future regional expansionbeyond Malawi.
Stakeholder Management & Compliance (The Integrity)
· Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with employers, regulators, and investors, ensuring clear communication of our value.
· Collaborate with Product and Finance teams to ensure seamless partner onboarding and the alignment of business development activities with Malawian fintech regulations and ethical standards.
What You Need to Bring
· Experience & Expertise: 5+ years of progressive experience in business development, corporate sales, or strategic partnerships. Background in fintech, banking, microfinance, or telecoms is a significant advantage.
· The Closer Mindset: Proven track record in deal-closing, persuasion, and turning cold contacts into long-term, profitable relationships.
· Entrepreneurial Spirit: You thrive in high-energy, fast-paced startup environments and are comfortable making high-stakes decisions with limited data under pressure.
· Technical Familiarity: Curiosity and knowledge about fintech solutions, digital payments, APIs, and financial inclusion models.
· Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Marketing, or a related field.
What We Offer
· Flexible Working & Autonomy: We trust you to deliver. Enjoy flexible working conditions and the autonomy to manage your schedule and strategy to achieve ambitious goals.
· Founder Impact: A critical seat at the table in a mission-driven fintech startup that is actively transforming the lives of Malawian employees.
· High Reward: Competitive compensation with a strong performance bonus structure that directly reflects the deals you close and the growth you drive.
· Growth: An unparalleled opportunity to scale a market-leading company across Malawi and set the stage for regional growth.
